A frightening video posted to social media captured the moments a 747 cargo jet scraped an engine along the runway during a violent landing attempt in Luxembourg over the weekend.
In a video posted to social media by aviation blogger kysanspotter and the aviation safety blog JACDEC, Cargolux Boeing 747-400F operating as flight CV-7545 was landing at Luxembourg Findel Airport (LUX) when it touched down hard and bounced into the air. The plane tipped ominously to its left side as it touched back down moments later, the left wing’s outer engine striking the runway in the process. The plane wobbled as the pilot regained control of the 747 and aborted the landing.

According to the aviation blog SimplyFlying, all crew members were safe and uninjured.

Cargolux said in a statement the pilots “landed safely on the second attempt” but that the plane “suffered damage during the first landing attempt and will remain on the ground while carrying out the necessary inspections and repairs.”
